The sun, it
foreshadows our very being. It is the underlying current that
creates life and sustains it nourishingly, but too much and it is a
long-burning powerful force. The destruction is a land turned
barren with a forecast of death. Those that live by the harvest and
by the land, they understand the effects of drought and floods, theyr
animals and livelihood depend upon the eco-system. Every facet of
work and routine revolves around the daily event of waking up to the
sun. Beauty Divine of the sun worshippers that baske theyr bodies,
even unto death’s warning. Bila;
the
cannibal Aboriginal Goddess who provided light for the worlde by
cooking her victims over a giant flame, she was chased away but the
worlde was then plunged into darkness, so Bila was captured and
tethered to the earth. Her tale still lingers today with sunbakers
tanning and the effects melanoma cancer. In the spiritual scheme of
things you could say, her appetite appeased by tribute.
Ra, Apollo, Helios and Mithras a few of the solar Gods of time
before; Hathor, Brighid, Astarte, Bast and Sekhmet, Goddesses of the
sun realm... Theyr tales aligning with the daily rising and setting
force of the sun since man knew. The wonder of the sun once left man
in awe. Primitive human evolved growing alongside each other and the
routine of daily needs of hunting, gathering and clan building. The
modern day man has mastered the art of building weapons of the sun,
nuclear bombs. As hystory has served, the need of the sun has turned
into our want, and our demise. Well, They did warn Us!...
Just as the
moon affects your emotions and sub-conscious and also the watery
tides, the Sun will be felt by your body, its conscience-selfe, the
air and the earth too. When the sun shines are you not more active
and therefore happier? Do you not warm up once more, when life has
turned your bones cold with dread? Magick can happen feeding from
the sun, the Light awakens our soul and nourishes our intellect
bringing to form its creative Life. The sun displays storms of such
ferocity that affect not only the fiery orb and our earth, but also
the planets of the solar system that we reside in. Thus it does
inspire and evolve not only earth (us), but the entirety of the space
(our surroundings) also. As Above, So Below, As Is In, Is Also Out.
A spiritual concept of the web that connects and weaves life
together, what we have always seen as a higher power of faith with
our internal knowing. That is not without survivalist basic
instincts built into our bodies, re/evolution.
Many sadly
have forgotten the olde ways of nature, listening to our inspiration
and psychic connection to the power of sun. But once more the basic
instinct of survival that has seen us forge opportunistic paths to a
society of steel and concrete, materialistic ways and forgotten
silence, a need to begin truly hearing around and within us has risen
its head; causing epic eruptions not only upon the sun but internally
within us. Perhaps if we take more time to spend a little each day
in the sunshine it would make such a difference not only to our
bodies, but to the silence of our mind and feel the connection of All
That Is. When we are calm, so may the sun find rest too and when
the sun becomes calm, the balance is maintained as it should be.
Feeding from the Sun...
This is a
simple but extremely effective meditation that can be done anywhere
or any time during the day, as long as there is sunshine about.
Stand tall,
straight and proud, planting your feet to the ground. Barefoot if
you can is best. Feel the earth between your toes, wiggle them in
the grass and think about the connection that is you and the earth,
how the planet you walk upon is Alive, just as you are. Once you
have greeted Mother Earth, turn and greet the Sun. Feet and back
straight, feel the power rise from your feet, up your legs and along
your body to the solar plexus (navel, belly button area) where it
stays and the Earth’s energy waits for the Sun. Raise your arms
high to the sky bringing your hands together, fingers now touching to
form a triangle. This is where you shall absorb the Sun’s energy
and bring it into you. Face the sun, aligning the triangle formed
from your own hands to the sun itself. This is how you Greet the
Sun. Without looking directly at the fiery, burning orb allow its
warmth to run through your fingers and filling the triangle with its
nourishing energy. Feel the Sun’s energy drawing into you via your
skin. Envision the veins in your fingers then hands, the capillaries
warming and flowing freely and filling with this energy. The
triangle between your fingers is now completely filled with the
nourishing light that is the Sun. As your blood now runs freely with
this warmth, feel the power move down your hands, to your arms, to
your belly and arriving to your solar plexus chakra. You are now
Feeding from the Sun. Draw this energy from the sun as much and as
long as you feel the need to do so, until inspiration flows and the
warmth of life resonates within. The sun’s energy and fire light
now goes through your middle, the solar plexus is fully fed and
nourished where it now flows down your legs and through your feet,
into the Earth connecting all together as One; the Sun, the Earth and
You. Mother Earth too feels the energy workings, She receives your
Light with Love and returns with Love. Once you have finished, bow
to the Sun and give Thanks. Place your hands to the Earth as are your
feet, grounding yourself back here again.
